Our Vokes “SL” Edge Filtration Units with our Reusable Back Flush Long Life Filters

Our Vokes Streamline ‘SL’ range of Insulating Oil Treatment Plants use the most advanced technology to provide high performance oil treatment combined with ease of operation, high reliability and low maintenance costs. Using a high efficiency vacuum system and high performance filtration to provide exceptional dehydration and filtration of insulating oil, virtually all contaminants, including particulates and dissolved gases are removed in one pass through the plant.

The Vokes Streamline ‘SL’ range of plants use the well proven high efficiency edge filtration technology. High efficiency edge filtration will remove 99.9% of particles larger than 1 micron and a considerable proportion of smaller particles. The long life edge filtration packs can be cleaned in situ by back flushing with air using the plant’s inbuilt cleaning system.

The in situ clean capability of this plant avoids the need for frequent cartridge changes when processing oil with a high particulate loading, making it ideally suited for the treatment of dirty oil as may be found in older or poorly maintained transformers, switchgear and tap changers.

Heated and filtered oil is atomised inside a high efficiency vacuum chamber, where a uniform distribution of fine droplets, maximises the surface area of the oil to provide optimum dehydration with moisture content being reduced from 50ppm to 5ppm, and gas content reduced from 10% to 0.25% by volume, in a single pass through the plant.

The vacuum chamber is provided with windows to allow visual monitoring of the dehydration process and is fitted with an optical level sensor to detect high oil or foam levels in the event of an upset condition.

Insulating oil must be processed at the correct temperature to ensure optimum process conditions and successful treatment our Vokes “SL” transformer oil treatment plant range are equipped with heating capacity to provide a 50C temperature rise across the plant. The plant is fitted with a digital controller to provide fine and accurate temperature control; the set point is operator adjustable and displays both the oil temperature and set point.

The plant’s control system is mounted in an electrical enclosure positioned at the rear of the plant for ease of operation. For safety, a 110V control system is used. Mains power is supplied via an isolator to the heaters, pumps and a 110V transformer.

The Vokes “SL” range of plants can be supplied as either a fixed plant for static installation or a fully mobile plant for towing.

Our SL range offers a high efficiency, low maintenance, comprehensive solution for treating insulating fluid.

Particulate Filter Unit for Cold Filtering with our Reusable Back Flush Long Life Filters

Our FM500 Particulate Filter Unit for the cold filtering of Insulating Oil uses the well proven edge filtration technology and filters at up to 500 litres per hour requiring only a single phase power supply. With the VOKES high efficiency edge filtration will remove 99.9% of particles larger than 1 micron and a considerable proportion of smaller particles.

In some applications, particularly when filtering very dirty oil, better results may be obtained by filtering at a lower flow rate. This can only be assessed by experience with a particular application. So for speed control the oil pump, which meters the oil through our Particulate filter unit FM500, is driven by an inverter variable speed drive (VSD) which allows the electrical supply frequency to the dirty oil pump motor to be varied, thus varying the speed of the motor and flow through the plant.

The FM500 has a nominal flow rate of 500 litre/hour with the oil pump running at the mains synchronous speed of 50Hz. Reducing the speed to 50% of the synchronous speed, 25Hz will roughly halve the flow through the filter. The oil pump speed is easily adjusted using the control pad on the electrical panel.

Lifting the FM500 is effortless using the four eyebolts provided on the top corners (with the weight evenly distributed using all four eyebolts), or using a forklift with the forks located in the guides provided in its base.
